Vero Beach Art Galleries: The Current List (Updated August 2026)

Downtown Vero Beach has six working galleries within a three block stretch of 14th Avenue, and they are a different scene from the five on and near Ocean Drive.
Two galleries that top-ranking guides still recommend have been gone for years. Flametree dissolved in 2021 and Tiger Lily closed its storefront in April 2020.
First Friday Gallery Stroll, 5 to 8 p.m. on the first Friday of the month, is free and the only reliable window when every downtown gallery is open at once. Next one is August 7.
Hours downtown are short and get shorter in August and September. Gallery 14 shuts entirely for both months except for the strolls.
The Vero Beach Museum of Art is free all day every second Saturday, and its sculpture parks are closed indefinitely for construction.

Flametree Clay Art Gallery dissolved in 2021. Tiger Lily Art Studios closed its 14th Avenue doors on April 30, 2020, after almost thirty years downtown, and the six women who ran it now show their work online and at pop-ups. Both are still listed as places you shouldn’t miss on the gallery roundup that ranks first for this search. That page was updated in January.

Closures aren’t the main problem with these lists, though. The bigger issue is hours. Vero’s galleries are small operations run by the artists who own them, which means short afternoons, a lot of Mondays closed, and a summer slowdown nobody writes about. A reviewer last year drove an hour to see six Vero galleries and found three of them dark. If you’re coming in from out of town, build your trip around a First Friday or start making phone calls.

Vero Beach Art Galleries in the 14th Avenue arts district

Six galleries, three blocks, one parking spot. Street parking downtown is free and easy except on stroll nights.

Florida Highwaymen Landscape Art

1935 14th Avenue, (772) 321-2802. This is the first place I send anyone visiting from out of state. Ray McLendon paints Florida landscapes in the Highwaymen tradition, which he came by directly: his father Roy was one of the original group of Black artists who painted fast, framed with crown molding, and sold their work out of car trunks along US-1 starting in the 1950s. Ray’s own paintings run hot and high-contrast, all that Florida light pushed a little past where it sits in life. Original Highwaymen pieces are usually on the wall too.

He’ll talk to you if he isn’t with someone. That’s most of the value. The gallery keeps the latest hours downtown, open until 6 or 7 most weekday evenings and until 4 on Saturday.

Gallery 14

1911 14th Avenue, (772) 562-5525. Eight artist-owners, monthly guest artists, and the widest range of media downtown. Oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, glass, jewelry, sculpture, photography. Open Tuesday through Friday 10 to 5, Saturday 10 to 4.

One caveat: the gallery closes for August and September except for First Friday strolls and appointments. Call (772) 562-5525 if you want in during late summer.

If you look at what visitors say about Gallery 14, the ceramics and fiber work draw more praise than the paintings. I’d go in through that door.

Art Club Gallery & Marketplace

1903 14th Avenue, (772) 217-3345. Home base for the Vero Beach Art Club, which is the largest arts organization in the county by a wide margin. Members hang a new juried, themed exhibit every six weeks, and the Marketplace next door carries handmade work from artist members. Tuesday through Friday, 11 to 3.

This is also where you go if you want to learn rather than buy. The club runs classes at every level, free community sessions, youth camps over spring break and summer, and Under the Oaks in Riverside Park, which is the biggest fine arts and crafts show on this stretch of coast.

Artists Guild Gallery of Vero Beach

1974 14th Avenue, (772) 299-1234. A co-op of local artist-owners. Paintings dominate, mostly coastal and nature subjects, with hand-painted glass, ceramics, jewelry, and prints filling in around them. Inventory rotates monthly. Open Tuesday through Friday 11 to 4, plus the Saturday after First Friday.

The Cave Gallery of Art

1420 20th Street, (772) 925-2168. Lisa Cave opened this in 2025 and it’s the reason every existing gallery list is already out of date. She shows Florida artists exclusively, with monthly rotations across glass, works on paper, oil, acrylic, photography, pottery, and mixed media, much of it coming to market for the first time.

The hours are the catch. Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 11 to 3, plus Thursday evenings 4 to 7. Four days a week the door is locked.

RAW Space @ Edgewood

1795 Old Dixie Highway. A working art venue more than a retail gallery, with rotating shows plus poetry and storytelling nights. Thursday and Friday afternoons, 3 to 7.

There’s a second Highwaymen Art Gallery at 1872 Commerce Avenue, Suite 601, holding two rooms of Highwaymen paintings. No posted hours, one review, and you’ll need to call (954) 557-6226. Unless you’re a serious collector chasing specific painters, Ray McLendon’s place on 14th covers the same ground with a person in it.

First Friday Gallery Stroll

First Friday of every month, 5 to 8 p.m., along 14th Avenue between roughly 19th and 23rd. Free. Galleries put out wine and something to eat, artists show up, and a handful of storefronts that sell furniture or clothing the rest of the month hang work for the night.

Get there at five. By quarter past seven the artists are talking to each other and the food is gone.

One thing people mix up: First Friday is not Downtown Friday. Downtown Friday is a street party with bands and food trucks, last Friday of the month, 6 to 9 p.m., and it only runs in October, November, and January through May.

Vero Beach art galleries across the bridge

The island galleries operate on a different model from downtown. Fewer artist-owners behind the desk, higher price points, more inventory sourced from outside the county.

J.M. Stringer Gallery of Fine Art, 3465 Ocean Drive, (772) 231-3900. The one serious representational gallery in Vero, mixing contemporary work with period paintings. If you’re buying something to keep rather than something to hang in a guest room, this is where the conversation starts. Buyers consistently describe the owners walking them through the decision at length, including bringing pieces to the house. Tuesday through Saturday, 11 to 6.

Meghan Candler Gallery, 6160 A1A in Indian River Shores, (772) 234-8811. Ten minutes north of the bridge and quieter than anything on Ocean Drive. Original coastal and abstract work, hung with room to breathe. Tuesday through Saturday, 10 to 5.

Steve Diossy Marine Art Gallery, 3247 Ocean Drive, (772) 205-2973. Marine subjects with a comic streak, and Steve is often in the shop. The problem is the schedule. He’s closed Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, which is a strange way to run a storefront on the busiest retail block on the island. Phone first.

Ocean Drive Gallery & Individual Artists, 3554 Ocean Drive. Small, artist-run, open weekday afternoons 1 to 4 and nothing else.

Seaside Jewelry and Gallery, 3150 Ocean Drive, is a jewelry shop that hangs some art. Fine if you want a sea-glass pendant. Skip it if you’re gallery-hopping.

Vero Beach Museum of Art

3001 Riverside Park Drive, (772) 231-0707. Five galleries, an art school, a 250-seat auditorium, and a permanent collection of American and international work running from the mid-1800s forward. It ranks first in attendance among American museums with budgets under $12 million, which for a town this size is remarkable.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 to 4:30, last admission 4:15, and Sunday 1 to 4. Docent tours run daily at 2.

Free days are more generous than most people know:

Second Saturday of every month, free all day, with family studio programming from 10 to 1
Free year-round for U.S. military veterans
Free for active-duty military and families through Blue Star Museums in summer
Free for Bank of America cardholders on the first full weekend of the month
Free on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Grandparents’ Day, 1 to 4

Before you go: the sculpture parks and the cafe are closed indefinitely while the museum builds an expanded campus designed by Allied Works. The Beckwith sculpture park was the best free hour in Vero and it’s gone for now. If that was your reason for the trip, wait.

Classes and framing at Vero Beach art galleries

Indian River Clay, 1239 16th Street, (772) 202-8598, runs beginner hand-building and wheel classes with materials included. What stands out in the reviews is how many of them come from people who arrived with no art background at all. The Vero Beach Art Club and the VBMA Museum Art School cover painting and drawing, the club more casually and the museum more structured.

For framing, locals use Royal Palm Framing at 52 Royal Palm Pointe, Frank’s Hang-Up at 485 22nd Place, and Frugal Framer at 502 21st Street.

What this means if you’re house hunting

I bring the arts district up because it sorts buyers, and I’ve watched it decide a purchase more than once.

Want to walk to First Friday? You’re looking at Downtown and Edgewood, where the housing is older, smaller, and considerably cheaper than the island, and where you’ll be within a few blocks of every gallery in this post’s first section. Want to be near the museum, Riverside Theatre, and the Ocean Drive galleries? That’s Central Beach and Riomar, and you’ll pay a large premium for the walk.

The two groups rarely cross-shop, which tells you something.
